Steven Schindler is a 30-year business leader, brand development strategist and marketing communications innovator. Known for his passion in ocean conservation and social justice, and expertise in destination marketing, he empowers institutions to build authentic brands that create enduring connections and sustainable revenue streams.


Before launching Connectivity, Steven served as Executive Director for the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, guided National Aquarium’s brand, revenue and reputation renewal as SVP/Chief Marketing Officer, and led a destination-marketing advertising firm developing brands and integrated marketing programs for hospitality and lifestyle clients throughout the US and abroad. A digital technology innovator and pioneer, he co-founded an internet content aggregation start-up delivering software as a service to online search and data security firms.  


Steven is a poised strategic planning advisor who aligns purpose with brand and marketing with operations to help organizations build business and reputation while delivering sustainable results. He utilizes for-profit expertise and nonprofit know-how to help institutions envision the future and execute sustainable plans to make vision a reality.

Growing up in the shadow of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Steven fell in love with the ocean at an early age and is committed to protecting wild places for future generations. When he’s not in the ocean, swimming at La Jolla Cove for fitness and the Zen of it, he is cycling up and down the San Diego coastline (and throughout southern California).
